Christopher Findlay Irwin, Jr. a direct decendant of Gov. Jared Irwin (namesake for our DAR chapter). He is the great-grandson of the x Governor of Georgia, Jared …Irwin. Christopher Findlay Irwin, Jr. attended North Georgia College in Dahlonga, Georgia. While there he did military training. He transferred to the University of Georgia as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps. After graduating from UGA he went directly into the Marine Corps with those going to fight the Japanese. He married on August 15, 1941 just 4 months before Pearl Harbor was bombed. He joined the US Air Force in 195x and his family lived on the Air Force base in Warner Robins, GA until the Korean Conflict ended.
