Saturday, December 19, 2026, is National Wreaths Across America Day. Over 5000 cemeteries nationwide will be honoring Veterans by placing wreaths on their graves that day. Governor Jared Irwin Chapter NSDAR, will again, sponsor Wreaths Across America in Washington County, as we work toward our goal of honoring all Veterans buried and living in Washington County. The Kick-Off Ceremony will be held at Sandersville Old City Cemetery beginning at 10:00 A.M. Numerous other ceremonies will be held at participating locations. Please Save The Date and join us.

Governor Jared Irwin Chapter NSDAR members have been busy the past several weeks. The week before Labor Day, banners went up around town. Members are visiting businesses to place information about Wreaths Across America and how to purchase wreaths. They are also speaking with business owners about donations to our project to help with the cost of the Veterans Remembrance Book, flags for cemeteries to mark Veterans graves, to purchase wreaths for Veterans who no longer have family in the area, and other things we do for our project.

Thank you to the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and the Rosa M. Tarbutton Memorial Library for allowing us to have displays for our Wreaths Across America project and giving a shout out to us on Facebook.

Wreaths Across America in conjunction with Governor Jared Irwin/Washington County Wreaths Across America is coming to Washington County on December 19, 2026, with a special ceremony at 10:00 AM at Old City Cemetery honoring the veterans who are laid to rest there. For just $17, you can sponsor a wreath in memory or honor of a special veteran. It’s a meaningful way to make sure their service and sacrifice are remembered by our community. A display with more information is now up at the Chamber/Development Authority! If you would like a participation form, stop by during business hours and we’ll be happy to get one for you.
